Spring has sprung and so has SOFA; the 13th annual Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair is set to begin its five-day run on April 15.
Featuring 60 galleries from the United States, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Turkey, Japan, and Brazil showcasing modern and contemporary design, decorative arts, and jewelry, the fair will once again occupy the august Park Avenue Armory on New York's Upper East Side.
Dealers including Clare Beck at Adrian Sassoon, Ferrin Gallery, Habatat Galleries Chicago, Joan B. Mirviss, Joanna Bird Pottery, Katie Jones, Moderne Gallery, Ornamentum, and Thea Burger will be on hand displaying works in glass, silver, ceramics, fiber, metal, wood, and cutting-edge materials that range from high-tech polymers to recycled rubber. Represented artists will range from the established—Ruth Duckworth, Beatrice Wood, Peter Voulkos, Lino Tagliapietra—to the up-and-coming—Beth Lipman, Chris Antemann, Loa Brooks, Junko Mori.
SOFA will kick-off as it has in years past with an opening night preview and dinner in the Armory's Tiffany Room on April 15 that will benefit New York's Museum of Arts and Design, followed by a lecture series the next day. Tickets to the dinner are $100 while a single day of general admission to the fair is $25 or $40 for a four-day pass. Attendees can visit SOFA's website for general information or call 800-563-7632.
