The National Building Museum (NBM) in Washington, D.C., will present its 2001 Honor Award to The Walt Disney Company and chairman Michael D. Eisner in recognition of their continued legacy of architectural patronage, innovative environmental design, and inspired urban restoration. "The Museum is privileged to salute Disney for consistently dynamic buildings and thoughtful environments that not only entertain, but also bring people together and encourage learning at every level," says NBM president Susan Henshaw Jones. In his 16 years as chairman, Eisner had commissioned more than 80 projects and has collaborated with such esteemed architects as Frank Gehry, Arata Isozaki, and Robert A. M. Stern.
The award will be presented at a gala benefit at the NBM's Great Hall on April 5th. For event information, call (202) 272-2448 or visit www.nbm.org.
