A manufacturer known primarily for plush commercial carpets, Constantine spins straw into gold with Sustillian. This resilient flooring is made from flax straw, the part of the rapidly renewable plant that's often left for waste after seeds are harvested. Visible beneath a surface of translucent recycled vinyl, floating flax particles create a nondirectional pattern handy for camouflaging scuffs and dirt.
Sustillian is offered in a 6-foot-wide roll as well as in 18-inch squares that can be installed in ashlar, quarter-turned, monolithic, or random configurations. The 12 available natural colors coordinate with carpet in Constantine's Landscape collection. Whatever you select will earn LEED credits in two areas: indoor air quality and materials/ resources. 200 Fair Street, Calhoun, GA 30701; 800-308-4344; constantine-carpet.com. circle 311

Metro Drum measures 23 inches across, Reel just 16; both are 17 inches high. 298 Harvey West Boulevard, Santa Cruz, CA 95060; 831-457-2900; mariayee.com. circle 315
