The plan for a new museum by Moshe Safdie and Associates features a mix of regional wood, glass, and concrete and will traverse a spring-fed ravine.
The finished 100,000-square-foot building, called Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, in Bentonville, Arkansas, will occupy 100 acres of woodland, with lush sculpture gardens and walking trails by Peter Walker and Partners. Construction on the space, which is dedicated to American, Native American, and regional art will begin next year. It opens in 2009.
