Rome has its ancient obelisks. Now Seoul, South Korea, has Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen's $4 million Spring, part of downtown's Cheonggyecheon Restoration project. One visitor compared the tall aluminum form to a twist of soft-serve ice cream. It's actually based on the marsh snail, found along Indo-Pacific beaches—and striped in South Korea's national colors.
