Architects are accustomed to bricks and mortar, not needles and thread. But Robert A.M. Stern Architect's latest project is a decidedly fibrous affair: the International Quilt Study Center & Museum, opening March 30 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The three-story, 37,000-square-foot building will be home to a 2,300-piece permanent collection of antique and contemporary quilts from the U.S. and 23 other countries, such as Australia and Zimbabwe. Behind the bowed facade of glass panels, expect to find galleries, research areas, and meeting rooms.
