Sutherland: The company recently tapped Terry Hunziker to produce two collections, Peninsula for outdoors and Melina for indoors. The Melina occasional chairs (shown) have a natural woven-cane frame and boast the graceful proportions that distinguish the line. 1025 North Stemmons Freeway, Suite 340, Dallas, TX 75207; 800-717-8325; www.sutherlandteak.com. circle 337
Ilex Architectural Lighting: The handblown Double-Up pendant with incandescent or halogen lamping is sure to brighten any space. The inner glass of the diffuser comes in intense hues such as tangerine (shown), limon, indigo, and cobalt blue. The matte opal exterior provides an elegant accent. 82 Stevens Street, East Taunton, MA 02718; 800-977-4470; www.ilexlight.com. circle 338

For those people longing for a few entre nous moments, there is Charter's Le Deux, a canoodler's dream. Built to cradle two, the chaise—shown here in clear maple with a natural finish—can be made with any wood or the customer's own material. Those going solo can sink into the Alexa chair, whose seriously sharp good looks were inspired by Miami Beach art deco. 9401 Whitmore Street, El Monte, CA 91731; 626-572-7500; www.charterfurniture.com. circle 341
A welcome newcomer to the 2002 Hospitality Design Exposition in Las Vegas, Koch-Smith showcased its first collection geared specifically to the hospitality sector. Like the custom work for which these inveterate craftsmen are known, the pieces are meticulously made. Among the best are the Luxe end table and desk, with elegant elliptical cutouts, and the petite De-Luxe table, in mahogany with a sage green onyx top. 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, 1709, Chicago, IL 60654; 312-321-0535; www.koch-smith.com. circle 342
