My Little Green Book
Vané Broussard, my senior designer, has been working with me for four years. (Thanks for that, Vané! You are awesome!). For Christmas she gave me a little green book called "Designers I met and like." I am supposed to fill it with names of designers I have met and liked. I am choosing to ignore the "met and," so, for me, this is about inputting the names of designers I like. Because I am far too passionate a person (especially when it comes to design), I am going to go even further and re-title the book "Designers that Rock!" "Like" is just not worth writing about.
Here are the designers I go crazy for:
Hella Jongerius - because I love just about every single thing she does. I love her because she is quirky and I just get the way she thinks and designs.
Patricia Urquiola - because she has an amazing way of designing and I instantly like everything she does.
Jaime Hayon - a.) he’s so damn cute, and b.) he really is the most talented designer there is.
Marc Newson - because I had a mad crush on him when I was in college and he was a nobody. I even put a picture of him on my wall in 1989. He is pure brilliance.
Patrick Jouin - because I met him and I heard him speak about a month ago. Anyone who doesn’t fall in love with his passion for design and talent is simply crazy.
India Mahdavi - because she is just plain brilliant.
Piet Boon - because I have just discovered why I think this Dutchman is kind of great.
Matali Crasset - because she is the most uninhibited designer I can think of. She designs from pure instinct. I dont know what planet she is from, but I want to go there.
P.S. I know I am going to look back at this list and think "Damn, I forgot ______."
P.P.S. Let me know who your favorite designers are, too!
