Liberace Museum in Las Vegas
"I didn't get dressed like this to go unnoticed." -Wladziu Valentino Liberace
Like most people, memorable experiences and people come up when I recall my travels. Many descriptions lose their way to memory lane, but as I recollect journeys, feelings do arise: poignant, sentimental, luxurious, therapeutic, even humorous and inspiring, which a recent trip to the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas proved to be, lifting my spirits immensely.
With all the visual sensations in Las Vegas, I couldn't imagine additional sights inspiring me more, but a quick visit to the Liberace Museum (and wouldn't you know that only in Vegas can you find a converted street corner mall transformed into a museum) proved me wrong, teaching me that I can be inspired limitlessly.
The king of entertainment lived and inspired America's and surely most of Las Vegas's vision. Liberace definitely contributed to building the Las Vegas brand with his genuine talent and personified performances. So many fans related to his concept and his goals easily, as Liberace came from working class Middle America.
At the museum you'll find many of his significant belongings displayed to nurture new and old fans. His possessions and lifestyle can be seen as attainable, even when they were highly expensive, acting as a dream to many of his fans. Almost immediately I was entertained by Liberace's clear singular concept: live luxuriously!
It truly is an inspiring stroll through the museum. The walk is a short, and segmented in two parts: cars and piano collections, then accessories and costumes. And while visiting this corner mall site, one can also appreciate the original location of Las Vegas, the other side of the strip.
