A Two-Day Conference - No Airplane
I’m participating in the Green Design Summit June 29th and 30th and you may want to consider signing up – not because I’m in it but because so many other really good people are too.
The most compelling may be Bob Dixson, the mayor of Greensburg, Kansas who will share the moving story of the town that was destroyed by a powerful tornado in May 2007. 95 percent of Greensburg was leveled but it is being rebuilt to be the greenest town in America. All new public buildings in Greensburg must be LEED Platinum; even private construction projects are building to LEED standards.
This is a green project that is as compelling as they come and you won’t want to miss it. Five percent of the Green Design Summit proceeds go to Greensburg for the rebuilding of their public buildings.
Another speaker, Sarah Susanka is best known for her “not-so-big” design philosophy that centers on smaller footprints as a sustainability model. I’ve been a fan of this practical approach to architecture and design since the publication of her first book, The Not So Big House in 1998.
Joshua Foss is a green design and lifestyle expert who has exhaustively researched green products. A familiar face from many trade show and television appearance, you’ll be entertained and educated as he shares many of his favorites with you.
There are six other speakers – maybe more as new ones are added. Me, I’m speaking on the new LEED v3 and the revisions to the LEED Accredited Professional program.
Here’s how it works. You will get 10 hours of content over two days; you can listen by webcast (no long distance charges) with your headset or speakers, or listen by telephone (long distance charges apply). And even if you can’t be on all of the calls, you’ll receive downloadable MP3 recordings of each session and transcripts of each session. You’ll also get resource lists of the speakers’ favorite websites and blogs plus a bunch of other goodies.
All this education with no travel, no carbon footprint for $297 – early bird pricing of $247 if you sign up by midnight EDT June 10th. Hope to see you there.
