News You Can Use
Yesterday’s New York Times had an interesting article on a LEED Platinum home. My comments…..
There’s no denying it – LEED, green buildings, sustainability – however you want to look at it are mainstream.
With a $2.8 million asking price, this house is the real deal, yet contrary to the article’s take on it, the look is not quite mainstream. It’s a bit “green” looking, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
The article doesn’t shy away from calling out the wonderfulness of LEED but also its drawbacks – “the huge amount of paperwork” - though some of the facts are wrong, calling LEED a code, for example. The article ignores the environmental and economic benefits of green buildings but ends on just the right note, by “long[ing] for the day when LEED recognition is irrelevant.”
