One Good Chair Competition: The Finalists
One Good Chair 2010 Competition, a design context focused on sustainability, asked entrants to "do more with less." While I wonder if we seriously need any more chairs in this world, the competition is more of a thought provocation that uses a vernacular object to talk about material conservation, ergonomically appropriate design, and emotional relationships we have with our objects. The finalists have been announced, all of which succeed in the competition's goals to "both preserve natural resources and amplify human delight." Up until last week, the public could vote on their favorite, but we heard through the grapevine that the winner was chosen in Las Vegas' World Market last week and will be announced shortly! In the meantime, you can check out all the finalists, like the Broom Chair by Baita Design Studio, shown here, on the website.
