While Adam Tihany's renown can perhaps be described in a single sentence, the scope of his work and a detailing of geographic locales would fill a small book. Born in Transylvania in 1948, Mr. Tihany was raised in Israel. After his requisite three year service in the Israeli army, he moved to Milan to attend the Politecnico di Milano, School of Architecture and Urban Planning. Upon graduating, Mr. Tihany apprenticed in several design studios throughout Europe, acquiring experience in furniture, lighting, product and interior design. Quite simply, Mr. Tihany may well be America's pre-eminent restaurant designer today. The Pace Collection offers four successful collections of his residential furnishings, including the Le Cirque and Monte's Collections. Villeroy & Boch has produced many of Tihany's custom-designed chinaware for restaurants, as well as Tihany's popular silver-plated cigar holders and ashtrays. In 1998, Christofle Silver of Paris began production of Mr. Tihany's famous "Bombay Sapphire Martini Glass".
